Probiotics
Probiotics are dosed in CFU — colony forming units, usually stated in billions — and list named strains such as Lactobacillus acidophilus or Bifidobacterium lactis. Two products at the same CFU count can contain entirely different strains, so the count alone is not a like-for-like comparison.
Three details on the back panel separate products: whether the CFU figure is guaranteed at expiry or only at manufacture, how many distinct strains are included, and whether refrigeration is required. Capsules dominate, with chewables and powders also present.
