Turmeric

Turmeric products divide into two kinds that look alike on the shelf. Root powder is dosed in large milligram amounts; standardised curcumin extract is dosed lower but states a curcuminoid percentage, commonly 95%. The front label often shows only the larger number.

The other common variable is an added absorption agent — black pepper extract, or a phospholipid or liposomal formulation — which is named on the panel. Compare curcuminoid content per serving where stated, then format and pack size.
